I am a firm believer that the best time to do something creative is when you’re feeling divine inspiration to do so, not when you’re bleary eyed or sprinting out the door. One of the main challenges I’ve seen and experienced is the “spending lots of money on beautiful things but always wearing jeans and a tee shirt” syndrome. This is a feeling generated by a confluence of factors to be sure, but one of the main factors is feeling as though buying something beautiful is enough. The buck does not, in fact, stop there! Swiping your credit card is the easy part - the harder (and, dare I say, much more fun) part is integrating new pieces into your wardrobe, and putting together outfits. Still with me? Great.
I talk about Storey quite a bit and for good reason - it allows me to (among other things) seize any moment of inspiration as it strikes and visually create a collage of items I want to wear together. This is, in many ways, (at least for me) the key to putting together great outfits: doing so in advance, mentally, and then having a resource to look at when I need to get dressed. You’re welcome (and encouraged!) to use Storey, but feel free to use any system that works for you: the trick is being able to see all of the items you own, and the ability to put together collages with these items.
What I find is that often you only need a few new hero pieces per season integrated thoughtfully to play with a full deck for months on end (especially if you’re okay re wearing a good outfit once or twice). I occasionally fall into the trap (one I am knee-deep in right now with this Nour Hammour swing jacket) of needing something new for the season, only to take a look at the options you have on deck and realize that you may not even have time to wear it this season!
For this season, I only purchased the following items:
Demellier bag
Toteme jeans
Savette bag
Beaufille coat
Dehanche belt
Scanlan Theodore skirt & top (260 Sample Sale find - and still available!)
What you’ll see below is simply a small selection of the outfits I’ve put together for this season, primarily using these new items and combining them with some old favorites. I have a wardrobe I can pull from creatively throughout the season when the mood strikes (I haven’t even used my favorite Argent skirt from last year in any of these mockups), but the below 30 outfits (if worn as little as twice each) represent two months of outfits - which means if I leave my house in a real outfit every single day between today and December 11th (fat chance), I will not have to think about clothing until the end of the season.

Note from last post:
It has come to my attention (from my own memory, Australian friends, slipping into a Leo Lin dress last weekend and noticing the tag read Sydney, and various other sources) that I forgot a few very important Australian brands -
Matteau for easy, tailored dresses with high quality details. Some of my favorite season-defying dresses are Matteau.
Leo Lin for stunning event dresses and bold silhouettes (hi, brides!)
Viktoria & Woods for sophisticated neutrals with a twist
Scanlan Theodore for smart essentials and unexpected fabrics
